Baby’s First Steps

What started as a part-time, side project is rapidly growing up.

I started building GooGooGear because I was collecting all sorts of information on baby products that I needed to buy for Amelia.  And it just made sense to share it with other new and expecting moms.  (Being a mom is a tough job, so it have this sense of responsibility, that we’re all here to help each other out in same way.)

My DH has been super supportive and recommended that I enroll in the Founder’s Institute to learn how to create a real business out of all the information I was collecting.  We had our first classes last week and they mean business (no pun intended). Class let out on the first night around 10 PM and they spontaneously assigned us about 6 hours of work to be completed by 6 PM the next day.  The first handful of students dropped out, and more will come, but I’m hoping GGG will be one of the survivors.

One baby step at a time right? In the meantime, I’m trying to upgrade my site, transfer URLs, change name servers (huh???), customize themes, and learn all about my technical options.   I’m pretty good with computers, but building a useful and content-rich website is a whole other game.

Miss Amelia has also started walking on her own this past week.  She’s taking her first few Frankenstein-like steps, stiff-legged, arms out, stumbling a bit.  I totally relate as I’m hacking at my keyboard, delicately picking at the HTML, technical support on speed-dial.  I know Amelia will be running around before I know it taking her baby’s first steps.  I just hope I can keep up!
