Dirty diapers are no fun. Really. They’re terrible.
When Amelia was a newborn, I remember thinking, “hey, this isn’t so bad, what’s all the fuss?” But as you introduce “real food” into your baby’s diet, the diapers get progressively worse. And until your little tot is potty trained, you need a good way to keep the dirty diapers from stinking up your sweet nursery. I’d like to believe that a magical diaper pail exists. And while I’ve been happy with my Genie’s ability to contain the smell when it’s closed, the odor escapes the minute you open it up – like a Genie…
I also underestimated the additional cost of refills over years. At this point, I feel like I’ve committed to my Genie and I can’t break up with it, but if I could do it over again, I would definitely buy a pail that uses regular garbage bags. The Ubbi is a little pricey on its face, but it ends up being cheaper since you don’t have to buy expensive refills. A steel can also seems to make a lot more sense!

What do you think, Mama? Thoughts to share with the other new moms trying to trap the stink?
